Modiphius is releasing a tabletop wargame based on The Elder Scrolls universe. Weird choice, seeing as this is an RPG series in which combat is usually a small-scale solo affair, but whatever, licensing!

And here I thought the veritable graveyard of miniatures games that aren’t Games Workshop would give pause to that idea?

Sure, there are contenders like Privateer Press and Malifaux, along with some of the niche football mini games, but they’re doing small potatoes compared to GW.

The sheer cost of licensing the product is likely immense, by comparison to most products, so this needs to do gangbusters.

I’m not cheering on the death of another product - I’m just very suspect of the intelligence of their investors. Keep in mind that franchise mini games have failed for: Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo, Marvel and DC, etc.; so the likelihood that Skyrim will do any better is suspect.
