All week long, Nintendo will be holding media conferences around the world, outlining some of the company's plans for 2010. The first of these went down in Australia today, and Kotaku Australia was there.

The biggest news coming out of the event was that Nintendo's two biggest "core" releases of the year - Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M - will be out a lot sooner than we thought. While everyone had been expecting both to ship towards the holiday season, Nintendo Australia said both games would be arriving "mid year", suggesting a summer (well, northern summer, Australian winter) release for both.

Exact details are expected to come from the North American summit tomorrow, which we'll be attending, so check back in then for more information.

In other news coming out of the event, the black Wii will go on sale in Australia on March 11, while the DSi XL will be released on April 15.
