Making Yoda Out of Wax Isn’t Easy

Madame Tussauds, the famous wax museum, is bringing Yoda to life—er, wax—for an upcoming Star Wars exhibit. If you thought it was easy to make a Yoda wax statue, then you are a crazy person. It’s not!

Via New Launches, Madame Tussauds uploaded a promo video to YouTube. And while most of the video is a boring PR hard-sell, there are interesting behind-the-scenes bits, showing a team of artists and a team of paintbrushes.

First, Yoda is sculpted in clay.

From that, a mold is made.

Like so.

Then, there’s painting.

Hair is added, strand by strand.

There’s more painting.

And side-of-the-head pressing.

So much painting.
