Summer is just about here which means one thing and one thing only… Prime Day is around the corner. That’s right, Amazon’s huge summer saving event in which you can find deals across all sorts of products from PC accessories to smartwatches to cotton swabs to Bluetooth speakers to bags of coffee. Pretty much anything you can imagine will have a “this much” off label in the corner of its product page. And yet, even though Prime Day is set to go from Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, June 26, you don’t actually have to wait until next week to start saving.
Some products have already had their sale prices go live in a series of early Prime Day deals. Among them is this GMKtec Nucbox M6 Ultra Series mini gaming PC. This particular configuration normally sells for $550. However, the early Prime Day discount has it cut down by 27%. This ends up bringing the price to just $399, saving you a solid $151 for a limited time.
Mini PCs are essentially laptop parts packages in a standalone box without all the things that make a laptop a laptop like a screen, keyboard, and touchpad. If you are looking for a low-profile desktop solution, they prove to be a lucrative option.
Under the Hood
This one here is working with an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS processor, with four cores and 12 threads, capable of running at 4.3Ghz (or up to 5.0Ghz when turbo boosted). It houses 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for storage. The RAM slots support expansion up to 128GB while the dual SSD slots support up to 8TB total, so the mini PC can keep up with your growing needs.
The integrated graphics card is a Radeon 760M iGPU which can support moderate gaming at a steady FPS. You won’t be able to turn on max settings or anything like that, but can keep up with a handful of popular titles.
The casing of the GMKtec mini PC is equipped with three different ways to connect to a display including USB-C, HDMI 2.0, and Display Port. The USB-C connection can support an 8K resolution at 60Hz while the HDMI and DisplayPort can each support up to 4K, also at 60Hz. All can be used simultaneously so you can connect to up to three screens at once without the need for a docking station or other peripheral.
In addition to that USB-C, the interfaces also includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports along with one USB 2.0 port. You also have a 3.5mm audio jack along with two LAN ports. Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth 5.2 are also supported.
