Street Fighter Pro Detained By ICE Is Coming Home

Ludovic Mbock will have a follow-up hearing in May

Just a little under a month after he was detained by ICE, Street Fighter pro Ludovic Mbock has been granted a low bond after a hearing today.

Mbock’s friends and family posted the good news on the GoFundMe fundraiser page for Mbock’s legal costs, saying that he will be heading home soon to Maryland before a follow-up hearing in May, which the team is “optimistic” about thanks to the outpouring of support and a judge who seemed “moved” by the people who showed up to support Mbock’s release.

Ludovic has been granted a very low bond!

Thank you so much for all of the supporters. We had around 20 people in the court room and over 20 more supporting online. The judge was clearly moved. Everything he said was in favor of Ludovic.

We could not have done this all without you! We will update once he is back home.

After the good news broke, supportive messages have been springing up across social media in places like X and Bluesky.

BREAKING: WE DID IT!!! LUDOVIC IS COMING HOME!!!

The judge, clearly moved by 20 people turning up in person alongside 20 online, ruled entirely in Lud’s favor with low bond.

Update to come when he is home. The team is optimistic about his hearing in May.

Mbock’s GoFundMe has been a hub for updates on the case, and has raised over $102,000 to help with his legal fees and representation. Mbock is best known in the Street Fighter community as a pro Chun-Li player, and when news broke of him being detained by ICE, many members of the fighting game community shared stories of his impact on the scene as a way of raising awareness for the situation and promoting crowdsourcing efforts.
