As announced last night for Japan, June 28 will mark the end of the Nintendo Wii's Forecast, News, Everybody Votes, Check Mii Out and Nintendo Channels in North America, along with an end to WiiConnect24 data exchange with your Wii friends. The Shop Channel and certain automatic Nintendo Forum functions will remain in play. Suddenly the Wii Mini makes so much more sense.

I actually still use the News Channel, usually when I'm getting ready in the morning. Way more useful than whatever is on TV at that time.


However, axing this particular channel makes a lot of business sense, considering how expensive it is to use Associated Press content.
