Just Cause 3 Is Getting A Multiplayer Mod

Just Cause 3 has been out for a while now, but it’s still... missing something. Just Cause 2, you might remember, only reached its true potential when fans created a multiplayer mod that let hundreds of people blow shit up and fly whales together.

The Just Cause 3 version, which is being made by the same team that created the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod (CORRECTION) a team called nanos, hit a snag in the form of JC3's Denuvo anti-tamper tech (Patrick did an in-depth report on the tech, if you want to know more). These days, however, the team apparently has Square Enix and Avalanche’s official approval. Now the mod is looking damn promising:

The mod, though far from complete, is getting close to being consistently playable. “While testing bugs were found which resulted in a lot of bugfixing and trying to minimize crashes, we’re slowly getting to a really playable state, as we were able to play for about an hour without a single crash or timeout,” wrote the mod’s community manager. “For an early development stage as the current one this is quite good.”

Cool, cool. Now which aquatic mammals will we be turning into military grade aircraft this time?
