You might know Fumito Ueda for his two excellent and massively popular adventure games, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. He is currently busy (and has been busy for a long, long, long time) working on a spiritual successor, The Last Guardian. But what comes after that? Zombies, apparently.

Ueda recently described his plans for the future in an interview. “This may be surprising, but one day I’d like to make a game on the theme of zombies,” he told Edge magazine. “With a zombie motif, there are many elements that interest me and that are suited to in-game expression. Especially if there is a way to use [zombies] in a way that allows me to express a character in a lyrical way.”
Ueda also expressed his desire to create a “low threshold” game for touchpad-based hardware—presumably smartphones, or the 3DS—as long as he can come up with a “well-suited” idea, also mentioning other, “secret” ideas for projects that he wasn’t willing to elaborate on.
I don’t know about you, but I personally am looking forward to experiencing the heartwarming tale of a zombie boy and his three-headed hellhound. Okay, maybe not.
