HQ is shutting down, according to a report by CNN Business. The mobile trivia game was immediately popular when it launched in 2017, but slowly fizzled out until today, when CEO Rus Yusupov emailed the company’s 25 employees to tell them investor funds have dried up and the company is dissolving.
Well, this should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who followed it. Forcing out Rogowsky because he wanted to do other work on the side, the death of its cofounder, problems paying out its winners, lack of capital, mass cheating, and constant bad changes to the rules of the game?
It was a slow moving train crash.
And it’s a shame, because it showed real promise at the beginning.
