Unlike certain other big-name gaming franchises, it looks like a Gears of War movie may actually get made. So how's it shaping up? Screenwriter Chris Morgan has an update.
Speaking with MTV, the Wanted and Fast & Furious writer says that a first draft of the screenplay is in, and that consequently the studio (New Line) are in the process of hammering out a budget for the flick.
"I think the gamer side is going to be thrilled with it," Morgan says. "All the stuff you want to see, we put that in there and then we blow it out a little more, even. Now it's just a matter of honing in on all of the character arcs and determining production types of things".
Well, of course he's going to say that. He's not going to come out and say "eh, we're kind of half-assing this one, guys, sorry". But still, he does at least promise that the movie will be "huge", with the production team hoping to convince New Line that "the fact that the world is being taken over by the Locust, it has to be huge".
