The arrival of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in Japan was outshone by the arrival of another big portable game, Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2. It put Snake in his place—second—in this week's contest.
The latest Dragon Quest spin-off moved an impressive 624,000 copies in week one, outperforming Peace Walker's still impressive 434,000 sales. The debut of Super Street Fighter IV overseas was a little less impressive, but pretty much in line with the performance of the previous, less super version.
Former #1 Nier slipped to ninth place, while the regular collection of evergreen Nintendo games filled out the rest of the top ten. Yes, that's Mario Kart Wii back near the top of the charts.
