Nintendo will let the public gets hands on time with its next console/handheld starting in January as part of a multi-city tour, the company announced today. It sounds like space will be limited, so be prepared to wait on line if you want to play the Switch.

The world’s most acclaimed maker of iPhone games is running a series of three-day events across North America. The first two days are invite-only. The last one—the one you want to line up for, if you’re a Nintendo die-hard—is open to the public:

  • New York – Jan. 13-15
  • Toronto – Jan. 27-29
  • Washington, D.C. – Feb. 10-12
  • Chicago – Feb. 17-19
  • San Francisco – Feb. 24-26
  • Los Angeles – March 3-5

In a press release, Nintendo notes: “Space is very limited, however, and fans will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is highly recommended.”

You might have an easier time getting your hands on a Switch at several gaming conventions where Nintendo will have the machine available:

  • PAX South in San Antonio (Jan. 27-29)
  • PAX East in Boston (March 10-12)
  • SXSW in Austin (March 16-18)

The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s next big thing. It’s a gaming console that is also portable. It’ll play the next Zelda and probably a new Mario, a Splatoon game and even Skyrim. Nintendo will be revealing a lot more about the Switch during a January 12 presentation from Japan.

Kotaku will get its first hands-on with the machine in New York in January, unless Nintendo feels like sending us one early. The console/handheld will launch in March.

Editor-in-Chief. Playing: Watch Dogs Legion (need to get back to RDR2, Iconoclasts, Arkham Origins, Sushi Striker, Samus Returns, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint)
