Last year’s Assassin’s Creed included references to Watch Dogs. This year’s Assassin’s Creed Rogue for PS3 and Xbox 360 has a joke about another Ubisoft game, the lovely Child of Light. Check it out, if you don’t mind a tiny spoiler about where part of Rogue takes place.
I ran into these guys by accident while poking around in the modern day part of the game. They are doing work at the fictional video game company Abstergo Entertainment, which creates video games based on the past lives that people experience using a device called the Animus. Basically, the idea of the Assassin’s Creed games is that, when you’re running around in 18th-century America or 15th-century Italy, you’re using the Animus. Rogue and last year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag had you using the Animus as part of Abstergo’s efforts to make video games out of Animus experiences. Oh, and Abstergo is run by the sort-of-evil Assassin-hating Templars. There’s that, too.
As for the rest of Rogue, I’ll have a review for you... eventually. Ideally later this week? Short preview of the review: it’s a pretty good game! It might even be a really good game!
