The developers at Rare intended to develop a Donkey Kong Country game for the Virtual Boy, but it was cancelled. It was previously misremembered by a developer to be an early version of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. No real footage of the game was ever found, with mock-ups being found on the internet.
