Game Artist Don Barnes Fatally Stabbed In Attempt To Stop Fight

Donald Barnes Jr., a video game artist formerly of EA Sports and Activision and the father of two children, was fatally stabbed earlier this week in Oak Park, California.

According to police, Don Barnes was assaulted after attempting to intervene in a fight between a man and woman outside of his apartment. Police have arrested 23-year-old suspect Bikram Singh Otal in the murder.

Barnes worked in the video game industry since 1996. He worked as a character modeler at Madden developer Tiburon Studios, later moving on to work as a character artist at shuttered developer Luxoflux. Barnes credits include games based on Transformers and Kung Fu Panda. He joined Santa Monica based Broodworks Inc. in April 2010.

Barnes was 41. He was survived by a 17-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.
