Josef Fares, director of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and the upcoming A Way Out, delivered a spirited, invigorated, profanity-powered speech at The Game Awards this evening, covering his real and true feelings on the Oscars and loot boxes. I canât do it justice. Just watch and enjoy.
âThe Oscars should fuck themselves up; this is the shit,â Fares said, gesturing at The Game Awardsâs lavish set. âCan we swear here? Fuck the Oscars,â he continued, delivering a middle finger to the camera.
âIf the whole world tells me âyour game is shit,â I will tell them, no, itâs not,â Fares continued.
âAnd your friend can play with you for free, right?â said Keighley, trying to segue into the news that Fares was apparently supposed to be announcing, which Kotaku received in a press release laterâthat players will be able to download a âfriends pass free trialâ that will allow them to play through A Way Out, which is a co-op only game, with a friend who has purchased it.
âThis is the thing,â Fares said in response. âIt doesnât have anything with the EA shit going on, with the loot box and stuff.â (A Way Out is published by Electronic Arts.) âEA has been very good to me… all publishers fuck up sometimes. Thatâs just how it is.â
âAnd itâs coming soon, right?â said Keighley, looking for A Way Out of this conversation.
âThis is my time to shine, man,â said Fares. âI love this!â
âLetâs look at the trailer, we can talk after,â said Fares.
âNo, we canât,â said Keighley.
Hereâs the trailer for the upcoming A Way Out, coming March 23.
