The co-op-oriented third F.E.A.R. game will be released on March 22, which we're probably being told today by the game's publisher because Halloween is on Sunday.
Into the spring F.E.A.R. 3 goes. Day 1's sequel to the creepy first-person shooter series known for its enemy characters' impressive artificial intelligence will get to compete for your dollars against the likes of heavyweight February 2011 shooters Killzone 3 and Bulletstorm.
A new trailer hypes the game:
Publisher Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment will try to goose those ever-important (for business people) pre-order numbers by offering some incentives if gamers pre-order the game. You get a 12-page F.E.A.R. 3 comic written by 30 Days of Night co-creator Steve Niles if you pre-order at Amazon. You get an in-game weapon called the "Shredder" — "like a fire breathing dragon in your hand" — if you pre-order at Best Buy. You get a gun called "The Hammer" — "A few less rounds per clip is an easy trade off for almost twice the damage!" — if you pre-order at Gamestop.
If you don't pre-order, all you get is F.E.A.R. 3 on the day it comes out or some time after. Hopefully that's a good option too.
