Though Daigo Was Defeated, He Pulled off the Coolest Capcom Cup Moment

Daigo Umehara did not win the 2015 Capcom Cup. That’s okay. He did won the hearts of fighting game fans once again with another spectacular comeback.

Kazunoko, playing as Yun, dominated the tournament, taking the top spot and willing the $120,000 prize. His fellow countryman, Daigo, playing as Evil Ryu, came in second, winning $60,000. Congrats to both.

But as brilliantly as Kazunoko played, Daigo’s comback in an earlier match (above) against Infiltration as Chun-Li is, as Event Hubs points out, going to be the one people talk about years from now.

In case you missed it, here are the results of the tournament.

Amazing. Awesome contest and it couldn’t have been a better send off for SFIV. In my eyes it is easily the best game to spectate.

I can’t follow any MOBA, and I’m not even that good at Street Fighter. But when I (a gamer) and someone who never plays games sits in a room together, and we’re both watching the SF tournament and equally having an awesome time, THAT is something special. And you can’t say that about DOTA or LoL.

Here’s hoping Street Fighter V will be just as brilliant.
