The Edge put together an intriguing list of top video game sales that looks at the combined totals of the US and the UK.
Since all retail sales number are really just estimates, including NPD and Chart-Track, Edge's analysis seems pretty dead on to me. They used both NPD and Chart-Track and then combines platform sales and figured in time available for tied games.
The result is a list of the 61 biggest selling games for 2008. Here's a look at the top ten:
Grand Theft Auto IV
13 Million
Average review score: 97 percent
Mario Kart Wii
11 Million
Average review score: 82 percent
Guitar Hero - Various
10 Million
Average review score: 85 percent
Wii Fit
9 Million
Average review score: 80 percent
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
7 Million
Average review score: 93 percent
I wonder how much this would change if you went back and added in sales in Japan?
