Riding high on the failure of Tony Hawk: Ride and feeling absolutely no threat from Ubisoft's upcoming Shaun White skateboarding title, EA gears up for an early May release for the third installment of the Skate series.
Skate 3 isn't just the latest game in the Skate franchise, complete with a whole new city, a Skate Park editor, and tons of real-life skateboarding legends. No, this is the culmination of a three-game quest to nail the very essence of skateboarding. At least that's what Senior Producer Jason DeLong says.
"Since the very beginning of the Skate franchise, we have captured the true essence of skateboarding, be it from the feel of nailing that perfect trick, to the feeling of just hanging out and sessioning with your friends. For us, SKATE 3 is the culmination of this endeavor – the most connected, accessible and social skateboarding experience yet."
The inevitable Skate 4 will likely continue to culminate this goal, but let's concentrate on the now. Skate 3 hits North America on May 11th, with the rest of the world joining in on May 14th.
