I shot this image of Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair from the new game's E3 trailer. Harmony of Despair includes many characters and supports multiple players. But does it really ever look like this? Or is this a trailer trick?
Castlevania games typically show a player's hero in one room of a large castle or other environment at a time. The radically-zoomed-out look you're seeing here is something fresh. But what I shot from the trailer isn't a one-time thing. Konami released a similar screenshot earlier this week. Perhaps Harmony of Despair will sometimes look like a cross-section of a massive castle.
Longtime Castlevania developer Koji Igarashi said during Konami's E3 presentation of the trailer at Konami's E3 press conference that the game can show more than 10 million graphical "dots." If that results in what we're looking at here, who could complain?
We will try to find out more about what this kind of shot means before the show ends.
