LA’s Anime Expo took place earlier this month, packing over 422,000 anime fans into the Los Angeles Convention Center (the one-time home of E3) for the Japanese pop culture event. And of course, Kotaku‘s favorite photographers, Mineralblu, were there to capture all the most impressive cosplay their lenses could find.
Anime Expo, or AX as it likes to be styled, is a really massive event. 2026’s weekend brought in almost half a million people across its four days and 1,400 hours of programming, alongside crowd-pleasing voice actors like Abby Trott (Dan Da Dan, Demon Slayer), Adam McArthur (Jujustu Kaisen), and Genshin Impact‘s Brianna Knickerbocker. But we’re not here for all that; we’re here for the cosplayers, who of course showed up in force.
This gallery is a splendid mix of anime and video game fits, with some of the best I’ve seen from Cyberpunk 2077 and Resident Evil 8, as well as the most extraordinary version of Pokémon‘s Gardevoir you’ll have ever seen. Also, there’s the first Esquie from Expedition 33 we’ve featured so far, and it’s amazing.
