Way, way back in 2008, Sid Meier's strategy game, Civilization Revolution, was released for consoles. It had some rough edges, but ultimately, it was a good Civilization game. Then, in 2009, an iPhone port of the game was released. And now, five years later, iOS is where the sequel makes its debut.

Civ Rev 2 will be a mobile exclusive—the first mobile-exclusive Civilization game, in fact—and similarly to its predecessor, it will be a turn-based strategy game. The press release offers this summary:

Staying true to the series, Civilization Revolution 2 will allow players to lead a civilization from the dawn of man to the modern age, and go head-to-head with history's most intrepid leaders as they wage war, conduct diplomacy, discover new technologies, and build the most powerful empire the world has ever known in a race for ultimate supremacy.

We also know that the sixteen leaders featured in the first installment will be returning, along with a few new ones like Churchill and Kennedy.

Civilization Revolution 2 will be launching as a premium title on iOS devices on July 2, and on Android devices at some point after that.

Hell yeah! I'm all in for this! I played the first one on Xbox and loved it! Great intro to civ for beginners. I ended up lending it to a bunch of friends and they all became fans of the series. We now love Civ V because of it :)

Day 1 purchase for me.
