Atlus’ cult PS3 hit Catherine is being remade for the PS4 and PlayStation Vita, the publisher announced today.

First released in 2011, Catherine wasn’t just a pretty good action/puzzle game; it had a stylish, confident approach to sex and adult relationships that remains fresh even today.

Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino is in charge of the project—called Catherine FB (for Full Body)—and Famitsu reports that there’ll now be a third Catherine in the game (the original had two endings UPDATE: Sorry, Catherines/Katherines for two different paths the player could choose).

DISCUSSION

So, fun fact: Catherine launched on the same time on Xbox 360. That’s not a big deal (to be honest, nothing about Catherine probably qualifies as a big deal, and I say this as the only person I know who completed the game on hard and tried to get other people to play it) except for the fact that is a backwards compatible title on Xbox One and runs very well; in fact, you can avoid the rare slowdown that sporadically appeared in the dream sections on PS3/Xbox 360, and I think load times are slightly shorter. So if you’re not in the market to purchase the remake, that’s an option too (no idea if it’s on the PS3-streaming catalog on PS4, I assume not).
