This brilliant summation of our journey through the Underground comes courtesy of an unlikely source: a tribute to a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure ending sequence.

The ending in question:

It is the second ending of Stardust Crusaders, which is the second season of the main JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime. The Undertale tribute copies the visual format (still images with minimal animation, and zoom-out transitions connecting long shots) and the soundtrack (Pat Metheny’s “Last Train Home”) to great effect.

It was drawn and animated by Jerome Jacinto (via r/undertale) over the course of four months. Since it’s a retelling of the game’s Pacifist route, spoilers abound, but if you’re not bothered by that, then let the nostalgia wash over you:

I finally finished Undertale last night (I had been putting off playing it for some time). I have to say, that was a very well-crafted finale. I’m glad I did a pacifist run my first time too. And now that I’ve seen how self-aware the game is in regard to restarting and multiple playthroughs, I have to say I’m fine leaving it alone. I’ll probably replay it again someday, but I think I’m going to leave my file as eternally kill-less.
