Rebecca Black, Google+, Ryan Dunn and... Battlefield 3?

Google just released their survey of top search terms for 2011, and Battlefield 3 holds the number five spot for one of the fastest-rising search terms in the world.

The Electronic Art's shooter beat out the iPhone 5, songstress Adele, Japan's evacuated (TEPCO) Fukushima I Plant, Steve Jobs and the iPad 2 to land its five spot.

Rebecca Black was the fastest rising search term on Google this year, followed by Google+, Ryan Dunn and Casey Anthony, the mother acquitted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

How did Battlefield 3 manage to jump so high up in the charts? Raw numbers. Searches for "Battlefield 3" and "BF3" jumped 1,773 percent between 2010 and 2011. The search term peaked in popularity the week of Oct. 23, when EA's shooter launched in the U.S. and U.K.

The rise in Battlefield 3 searches brought with it a rise in loosely connected search terms like "beta battlefield 3", "battlefield 2", "battlefield 3 pc", "download battlefield 3", and "battlefield 3 release."

It looks like Battlefield 3 rival Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 didn't make any of the Google Zeitgeist 2011 global lists.
