My Chemical Romance, the generational rock band that, despite having been reunited for seven years, has yet to put out a new album, has a vampire motif to a lot of their music. So you would think that Gerard Way, the singer of the band, would have met Astarion, Baldur’s Gate 3’s vampire companion and modern-day bloodsucking heartthrob. But no, it turns out he hasn’t, and he confirmed as much at a recent show. Now, developer Larian Studios is trying to get him into Faerun.
TikTok user @katanaluciana took a banner to one of MCR’s recent shows at London’s Wembley Stadium that asked a simple question: “Gerard, have you played Baldur’s Gate 3?” Way didn’t initially spot the banner himself, but the band’s bassist and singer’s brother, Mikey Way, spotted it and asked him about it on stage.
@katanaluciana Astarion x Dark urge brain rot strikes again at the my chemical romance show. Gerard way cannot escape baulders gate 3, also the fact he’s played the first game confirmed is a win. This was such an amazing gig and if anyone else has any videos from this interaction please tag me😭😭 #mychemicalromance #bg3 #astariontok #mcrwembley #mcr @Emily @Matt price
“No, I’ve only played Baldur’s Gate 1,” he responds. “Not that I probably wouldn’t have liked 2 and 3. I did play the Icewind Dale expansion, but I ran out of time, you know?”
He asked the fans if they played Baldur’s Gate 3 and if it was good, to roaring applause from the venue. The whole interaction is very cute, and I do believe Way would like Baldur’s Gate 3 if he got around to it. Enter Larian, who is now trying to expedite the process and get the game in the singer’s hands.
Gerard, there's a @baldursgate3 code with your name on it if you fancy trying it
lots of love, larian xoxo

I’m hoping he plays it and it inspires him and the rest of MCR to put out a new album. It has been 16 years since Danger Days. Get off the stage and into the booth, Gerard.
