RIP Mist (Final Fantasy 4)
RIP Mist (Final Fantasy 4)
One of my most memorable would be from Rainbow Six 3 on original Xbox. It was the first game I ever played with a clan in a scheduled tournament. All of which was organized in the game itself. It was such an intense experience. The particular match left me as the LMS, my entire squad had been eliminated and there were… Read more
I remember when I was a kid, watching my buddy play some Sierra game, he said “I read an interview with so and so, and he says he hopes someday that there will be a game that really scares people.” and I was all “yeah right.” Read more
This is me exactly, except I’ve been pushing through and can’t stop thinking of playing the game. I hate horror and this game actually makes my heart race. When I finally muster enough courage, I can only play in 20-30 minute chunks at a time. It’s a fantastic game, I think you should give it another shot Read more
The vanilla WoW Alterac Valley battleground made for some great comebacks and crushing defeats. I can recall several 8 hour games where we were pushed all the way back to the Aid Station and somehow pushed all the way back for the eventual win. Read more
I was losing 4-0 in NHL 18 with about 15 minutes left. I switched up some of my strategies and picked up a few lucky bounces and came back to win 6-4. This wasn’t enough to get me a real NHL coaching gig but I tried.

I love the idea of horror games, but I can’t play them. The lone exception has been Fatal Frame 2, where desire ultimately won out. With a friend in the room. And alcohol. (Did I mention I don’t generally drink?) And when I saw this, I literally shrieked and tossed the controller—she stays with me, even now. But this… Read more
I would say that mine occurred during the South Dahshur (bent pyramid) scenario of Pharaoh. I was going through the usual procedure of developing my city and the exporting industries to support it. That development got VERY expensive, and was 2,000 debens in the red right away. Year after year I remained in debt, and… Read more
God of War, vs. the Valkyrie Queen. After about 10 attempts, my patience was wearing thin. I started up for another go, and was doing alright, getting her to about half health through some a grueling back-and-forth, when I made a few missteps and got knocked down to about 5% health in just a couple of seconds. One… Read more
Colonization, playing as Spain on the real world map. Middle of the revolution, I’m down to one well fortified city on the Caribbean coast of South America. The siege is taking its toll on the attackers but I can’t hold out forever. I have no options. And then a diplomatic breakthrough. Dutch ships appear in the… Read more

Someone thought it was a Good Idea to put me (7th? overall at the time) in an EarthBound Pajama% race against then world record holder UltimoIce. I spent the time between the announcement and race day playing nothing but EarthBound in a training regime worthy of a Rocky-style montage. I’m practicing stairs glitch on…
I can’t think of one of my own, but my wife has one. Playing Final Fantasy VII and fighting Safer Sephiroth. The other members of the party were dead and he casts Pale Horse inflicting Frog. Then frog Cloud attacks for 1hp and that ends up being the killing blow. Greatest *wompwomp* in history. Read more
