I hate that I’m late to this article because I would’ve loved to take part in the discussion and I don’t know if you’re still reading comments so I’m hijacking this thread, but -
It’s fascinating to me that this is finally getting more mainstream coverage. As a former Orlando local and someone that follows the theme… Read more
That’s exactly it, isn’t it? You can’t go on the cheap for the day like you can to a Six Flags or Carowinds or wherever. If you go, you need to save and decide you’re going to not look at the credit card bill till you get home. That’s what we did with our two kids, and it was totally worth it. Booked all the… Read more
hahahaha OK no.. to the person who said this - (but please lets leave them in the greys)
“There’s also another factor not explored in the article which is that many Disney fans feel betrayed by how the company has become more interested in political agendas than simply being an outlet for enjoyable family friendly… Read more
“And even though the experience and expense of going back has changed significantly for the worse, longtime fans continue to chase those feelings. There’s a desire to replicate those memories with their new families, even at great cost.” Read more

I’ve been going once a year with family since maybe 2005. The experience has declined fairly steadily over that time. For me there’s one major, glaring problem — the park is too damn crowded. I think one of the biggest things causing this issue is the annual passes. We can’t even enjoy evenings at the park anymore… Read more
It’s greedy as all hell. And the outside observer might look at this and think, “Well, don’t pay the extra fees then.” But in an abstract sense, you’ll be fleeced even worse. You’ll be spending most of your day waiting in stand-by lines—which are now even longer, because the Lightning Lane riders are all cutting in… Read more
IThis. Worked with a vendor when Disney laid off it support in the US for cheaper resources, they tried to pass the the cost of losing good knowledgeable workers in house with no knowledge offshore. We lost money, Disney won the lawsuit from their former employees who trained their H1b1 visa replacements. The parks… Read more
I am not a Disney adult who wants to wait in line to hug Mickey Mouse or wants to do the whole stealth dressing like character thing(Disney bounding). But I truly do consider theme park rides to be an art form that I am a huge fan of. I like to feel the immersion of the lands and the rides. Even enjoy a well designed… Read more
I totally agree. Disney is a corporation run by a board, and their job is to make money for the stockholders. That’s it. It isn’t to make people HAPPY at the park, unless that increases their bottom line, and people being unhappy isn’t having any real impact now. (Will it down the line? That’s debatable. Personally I… Read more
LA resident here. I used to buy the SoCal select annual passes for my daughters, my wife and me, up until about 2016. I remember first getting them in 2009- at the time, I believe they were $135. For a FULL YEAR (with a hefty number of blackout dates, but hey, we weren’t going on the weekend and dealing with those… Read more
We went to Disney World earlier in the year and it was miserable. Between the park reservations, dining reservations, and Genie+ it felt like I had to have my entire trip planned out to the second by at least six months in advance. I think the only things that went right were using Genie+ to walk onto Haunted Mansion… Read more
We went to Disney World last summer family of 4, we stayed for 7 days. We stayed in one of the Disney owned resorts and it was $3600 for all the park tickets and hotel. Then we probably spent maybe another $1000 on souvenirs and food. While it was alot of money in the long run we had a great time and my kids just went… Read more
There’s something to be said for holding onto your inner child as you grow older (I think allowing oneself to be childish now and then is healthy) but unless you’re a parent I don’t see it either. But then if you ARE a parent, it’s much more expensive and you now have all of the regular responsibilities of monitoring… Read more
