This reminds me of the early demos for Dead Space back in the day, originally there was no way to pause the game (all the option menus were in the real time menus) but due to the negative reception they added a simply pause menu for settings and so you could stop to take a piss even if there wasn’t a save point around. It’s incredibly bizarre to me how many people are actually defending this. People on twitter and reddit just keep saying “git gud” when someone brings it up. No one is asking for a quick save so you can reload when something goes wrong or anything, just a way to be able to take a break without fear of losing a bunch Read more

I’ve been playing the game since it unlocked late yesterday evening and...just...wow. I’ve traditionally detested roguelikes as a genre, but always knew there’d be an exception out there somewhere. And I think Returnal may be it. Similarly, I can’t stand when a game is made intentionally hard purely for its own sake, Read more

If you try it that way, nothing happens. When you still have your Xbox 360 with your old saves, you have to manually upload your saves to the MS cloud thingie. Read more

Fable II, III, and Fable Anniversary yeah, you boot them up and they sync your old saves as long as they are in the cloud. Read more

You’d think this means only one of my three characters has Death Chains, but there’s an easy workaround. Once you find a gun equipped with Death Chains while playing as one character, dismantle it, then apply it to a bunch of lower-level weapons, and drop those weapons into your stash. Read more

Right there with Zack on the notion that it should be a live service game. Campaign expansions sound... fine? But what it really needs is more variety: more map variety, more enemy variety, more gameplay variety - maybe even a new class or two, down the line. All of which seem more likely to come out of a live-service Read more

I would add, as a person who is generally mediocre to bad at games, play the game at the highest world tier you can for as long as you can, then turn it back down to normal when you feel like you’ve hit a wall. I played until world tier 6, which allows you to upgrade weapons up to three levels higher than your Read more

I don’t pretend to understand most of the endgame patch stuff - I only just got to the endgame myself - but man, I gotta say ( in relation to the earlier ‘can’t choose between classes’ article), what I’d really like to see is some form of resource sharing between all four classes. Make me level them independently, Read more

Really wish it just had a offline mode for people who play single player, been said numerous times it is not a live service game but I dunno its online component seems a big part of the game and I suspect it will get updates regular based on what i saw with the demo and perhaps events to. Now playing

Most of the music for Brütal Legend was licensed, but Lita Ford did do an original song for the game, and it’s a headbanger.

For what it’s worth, this is pretty much the entire series in a nutshell, besides some really obscure games that nobody ever cared about. And the games that didn’t hold up that well are replaced by cinematics. It’s actually a pretty good deal. Read more

Videos are the path of least resistance here, but your best bet is to find a buddy to play with who’s more familiar with the series. The tutorials are thorough enough, but in practice there’s too much to read at once to really grasp things. Monster Hunter is really a community game.  Read more
