I think the animation quality of MSG is excellent both for its time and today. I look at something like MSG as one looks at the "stylized" graphics of Nintendo's Wii titles. They were able to stack up against "technologically superior" games graphically because they had a unique style. Looking at the vividness of the Read more

it was quite funny actually. We tried to just power through the buffering, but after the umpteenth interruption during the fight between unicorn and banshee we just said "forget it! Let the thing download! Were starting an extreme versus tournament!" Read more

Just Watched it on PSN, and it was excellent. Universal century will always be the best! Read more

What I love so much about Unicorn is how it makes Newtypes the thematic center of its story. That's a serious void in UC; yes, Newtypes are front and center in anything Tomino, but they're usually a vehicle for plot progression, character drama, or both. There's little (if any) real commentary on what they are or Read more

I am one of the founding members of a Gundam Builder's group here in San Diego, and we held a massive party for the release of episode 7 on Sunday. Burned through episodes 1-6 throughout the entire day before launching headfirst into episode 7, only to be plagued with bandwidth issues because one of our member's wi-fi Read more

I thought the final episode was one of the finest animated movies I've ever seen. Read more

Unicorn was definitely one of, if not the best Gundam has ever been. Like you I did not really like the way the final confrontation played out with Frontal, but I like the things said and the cameos. Can't say I'd recommend Seed though in any way haha. Read more

Last time there was a post about Gundam Unicorn, I wrote this big comment with some very interesting insights, and later realized I never posted it... A lot of it was about the nature of Newtypes and why the whole 'Emo Riddhe' thing— while looking ridiculous —ultimately made perfect sense. Read more

Richard: Previously I mentioned how underdeveloped the two leads are; yet some of the supporting cast are excellently developed—namely Marida and Zinnerman. Their relationship is the most interesting and emotionally captivating aspect of the series—especially with all she goes through. Read more

Now playing

And as a music fan, the 7th episode doesn't disappoint.

I read this as "Real Coconut" for some reason.

Concept art of Sakurai's car:

Talking about what games he'd like to play, Sakurai gave several examples. "Personally, I'd like to play Jumping Flash! It'd probably be quite scary, though. You could probably make a crazy Love Plus game as well. A horror game like Resident Evil or Fatal Frame could be good, too." Read more

Is this really that unusual? There's tons of people who pay insane prices for physical copies of games that are available cheaply through download services. 170,000 yen is extreme, but there's plenty of games over US $100 out there. Read more

Epic Spoilers from the first chapter from a person who can't read Japanese! I just look at the pictures and make up a rough approximation of the story! (And it's really hard to hide spoilers so here's a picture of a huge spoiler).

I have to say i'm half way towards being done with physical copies in the sense i keep copies of my online-bought games catlogues. The economics doesn't surprise me...it seems people will always believe scarcity is the sole basis for valuation. Read more
