I think it's growing. I mean it's not hard for good "minority" movies to gain traction in the US or rather the rest of the world. It's just an issue of execution. Chinese movies unfortunately right now just suck.

Man, they loved transformers! To many Chinese in China, it's about the spectacle of the movie! So the better the effects the more people are going to watch. Check out some of China's older movies! Well they weren't so much as expecting it to be great. The chinese have weird tastes in movies. They liked the Resident Evil franchise but were unhappy that the graphics were too much like a video game. But most importantly like post pointed out, they were hoping that Ada Wong did more than just be pretty. Read more
