Video Games Finally Won A Grammy

The medium of video games won its first ever Grammy tonight. Yeah, it's for a song that was featured in a game that's nearly six years old, but we'll take it where we can get it!

While the amazing musical works of games like Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2 went entirely unnoticed, composer Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu" (featured left) - first written for the release of Civilization IV on the PC all the way back in 2005 - beat out the other nominations to win the Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists.

Hopefully the song's success can convince The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences that, instead of being shunted into a category alongside a whole bunch of other stuff, video games are deserving of an award all of their own.

I mean, there 109 categories in the Grammys. It can't hurt to add one more!
