I’ve had the Nintendo Music app downloaded for a while now, but I’ve barely used it. There are just very few scenarios in my day-to-day life where the music I want to listen to via my portable telephone is, like, Mario sounds. But just last night, Nintendo finally, finally, added a Nintendo Music web browser player feature, and you know what that means!
That’s right: 24/7 Animal Crossing hourly music on my desktop.
I listen to stuff with lyrics in the car or while I’m doing chores, but at my while computer working, I need instrumental stuff to be able to focus, and Animal Crossing music is the perfect, relaxing, innocuous soundtrack for a day of writing. Nintendo music has a ton of Animal Crossing playlists available, with music from the original Animal Crossing, the 3DS’s New Leaf, and the Switch’s New Horizons, including three playlists for each game that include all the hourly music for every weather type: sunny, rainy, snowy. The “hourly” music is the background music that plays when you’re outdoors in each game. It changes on the hour, every hour, so you can just listen to this soothing background music on loop all day.
But the best part is that Nintendo added a big button a while back to each playlist that reads, “Play Hourly Tracks.” If you select this while on any of the Sunny Day, Rainy Day, or Snowy Day playlists, it will automatically play and loop the appropriate music for each hour of the day, changing it on the hour, every hour. I’ve been listening to the Sunny Day tracks for New Leaf since 8am today and am having an excellent time. I might switch to New Horizons toward the end of the day, just because there’s nothing quite like that moment when the 5pm music hits and you know it’s time to log off.
If you’re feeling a little nostalgic for Animal Crossing but don’t have the time to break the game out and reintroduce yourself to all your villagers, I highly recommend digging into the web browser app today instead and enjoying the upbeat, nicely repetitive sounds of the hourly themes. Now if Nintendo would just put Ring Fit Adventure music on here for workouts, my entire day would be solved.
