For four seasons, Joe Goldberg was one of Netflix’s craziest characters ever. In the final season of the streaming giant’s twisted love drama, the series delivered one of its most compelling seasons yet by burying Joe under the skeletons of his past. The manuscript of his first victim, the creepy, underground glass cage where he’s trapped people in, and an the return of an ex he thought he killed all play a role in his eventual arrest in the series’ climax. More than simply fan service, these early season callbacks were evidence of how the only person who could stop Joe has always been Joe, and he never realized it until he was shot in the dick and hauled off the prison.
