Twitter user Tachibana 11111 created this "fantasy Japanese style" village. The design is modeled after a Japanese village filled with traditional inns.

Tachibana 11111 spent one year and eight months to complete this work, using a self-made custom texture pack to capture that Japanese feel. The result is truly spectacular.

The thing I don't get about these Minecraft building projects is if you're going to spend hundreds of hours modelling a highly detailed virtual city, often with custom textures or mods that require some kind of programming knowledge, why not just do it properly and in an actual game engine?
