Apple’s AirPods Max 2 are premium noise-cancellation headphones that pack in plenty of smart features. The brand sells them for $549, which is the same price as their predecessor, but Apple’s official website isn’t the only place to grab them. Quite a few other retailers carry them too, with some even offering impressive discounts that you won’t really see on Apple.
Multiple listening modes
There are quite a few similarities with the original AirPods Max, but you’ll find some really solid upgrades here too. The pair is designed with a breathable knit-mesh canopy, memory foam, and custom textile ear cushions, and telescoping arms for a better all-day fit. These stay in place even when you’re moving around, which makes them great for the gym, too.
The high-fidelity audio with deep bass, well-balanced mids, and clear highs makes every track feel better. The ANC mode blocks all background noise from coming in and disrupting your sessions. According to Apple, this version offers up to 1.5x more Active Noise Cancellation than the previous generation, which was already top-notch! Adaptive Audio adjusts the level of cancellation based on your environment automatically. For instance, if you’ve just stepped into a crowded, chaotic subway, it will increase the intensity to reduce distractions, then lower it back down when things get a bit peaceful.
Another cool feature is Conversation Awareness, which lowers the volume of whatever’s playing when you need to talk to someone around. If you want to hear everything around you without taking the headphones off, you can switch on Transparency mode. This one lets ambient sounds in, so you can stream while also staying aware of your surroundings!
If you travel often, you’ll also appreciate the Live Translation feature, which picks up on conversations as they are happening and translates them into your preferred language on the fly. The battery lasts up to 20 hours on one charge with Active Noise Cancellation enabled. With casual use, you can go at least a few days without plugging them in.
