44. Going Overboard (1989)
Adam Sandler could have sunk after his film debut in 1989, the seafaring dud Going Overboard. Predating his run on Saturday Night Live, Sandler’s first movie is his first as a leading man, and sees him play a cocktail waiter on a cruise ship who harbors lofty dreams of becoming the ship’s resident comedian. Budget production value doesn’t weigh down Going Overboard so much as Sandler’s painfully obvious inexperience sinks it.
