In the months leading up to a violent Tucson shooting spree, gamers and friends say Jared Lee Loughner spent time in gaming forums rambling and talking about anger issues under a variety of drug-inspired user names.

In one post found in the forums for massively multiplayer online game Earth Empires, the 22-year-old high school drop out asks "Does anyone have aggression 24/7?" He also seemed to wonder, perhaps randomly, about what life would be like at 60, or why someone who says they would go on a date with him never does.

A group of gamers helped the Wall Street Journal unearth 131 online postings written by Loughner between April and June of last year. They seem to be the ramblings of a unbalanced, angry man, though there is little context provided.

Loughner is accused of killing six, and wounding Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D., Ariz.) along with 13 others.

Over on the Earth Empires forums, gamers who knew Loughner for years, were shocked to learn that a man they suspected used drugs, who some thought was disturbed, would go on a shooting spree.

"Jared Loughner was his name," one forum poster wrote. "He played under the names 'Dare,' 'heroin' and 'cry'. I cant fluffing believe this.. i knew the guy was nuts. but omg.. i cant stand that i know him."

Another called Loughner a "sick, sick mind." A third said that Loughner started "spewing all kinds of fluff about the government, taking lots of drugs and posting a lot of racist remarks and fluff" a couple of years ago in a related forum.

Earth Empires is an online military strategy game, one that allows gamers to team up in larger alliances. These alliances also have their own private forums, forums where Loughner seems to post most often under names like Heroin and XTC.

Some of the gamers say that Loughner was removed from these private forums, not for his ramblings, but because he was accused of using them to cheat in the game.

According to those in the forum, Loughner also spent quite a bit of time playing strategy game Starcraft and was interested not only in writing, but the nature of words. Something he mentions in one of his two YouTube channels.

On one channel Loughner wrote "My favorite interest was reading, and I studied grammar. Conscience dreams were a great study in college!"

A forum poster says he took a creating writing class with Loughner in 2006. The poster, who described himself as a childhood friend of Loughner, said he met Giffords before, even spoke with her.

"He asked her what she thought about words and what they mean and how language is 'man-made.' " The poster wrote. "She replied to him in Spanish and it aggravated him. I also sadly know Jared is a good shot from when we went shooting when we were younger. Scary"

This is going to be long, but it's best I just express my feelings to get them out there.

I think I'm a bit broken inside, because what has been upsetting me the most about this whole ordeal is not the shooting itself, but how the rest of us and the media are dealing with this, the questions we're asking, how we're behaving, and what things the media has determined are more important than others. to inform us about.

Over the last few days this man's entire life, online and off, has been regurgitated to the public. CNN has published personal poems of his, his online forum posts are digested by the public, the entire contents of his bookshelves and closets are open for discussion, every minute detail of his college experience from his paper work to his classmates regurgitating crap like "that one time he came to class and like totally looked and Sarah and he blinked but it was an EVIL blink and I just like SO TOTALLY knew something was evil about him, y'know right?"

An examination of his personal life is something that is necessary and required if his defense is going to try the insanity plea or any other court proceedings, but I, and the general public, really don't need to be informed about some crumpled up piece of paper they found under a pile of clothes containing a poem he wrote in the 8th grade that sounds slightly angsty... This is a waste of my time when I could be being informed of other far more important things happening with this case and the news worldwide.

Among others, the crimes he is accused of include 'murder', 'attempted murder', and 'attempted murder of a Congressmen'. This angers me. Isn't that just attempted murder? Why is that separate? Is the punishment for attempted murder of a congressman more serious than if it were just plain attempted murder? Is attempted murder of a congressman a more serious and evil crime than the ACTUAL murder of a 9-year old girl?

I could be overreacting but that crime as being something separate entirely just boils me up inside...

And why are we not blaming the shooter for the shooting? Why is it that we and the media (with very few exceptions) seem to be focusing on or blaming everything BUT the person who actually pulled the trigger?

We blame his drug habits, we blame his gaming habits, we blame his social habits, we blame his amount of friends, we blame his hobbies and interests, we blame his books, we blame political discourse, we blame gun laws, we blame or mention his atheism....we blame everything that's possible to blame EXCEPT for the actual person who woke up that morning and shot almost two dozen people. Like....I'm honestly shocked that we haven't yet tossed Race into this somehow...

Everything about this case and the way the public and the media is treating it has had me just fuming. We go through the same tired routine over and over and over with every public/school shotting, same issues, same discussions, same topics and yet in the end we fail to actuall achieve or learn anything. So the next time this happens, and I assure you this will be repeated again, the public and the media can just hope back on the floor and go through the same song and dace we always go through, and in the end, come out with nothing.

Sorry :/
