British TV writer and presenter (and former games journo) Charlie Brooker, being interviewed in the latest issue of Edge, nails boss fights. Just...nails them.
Boss fights haven't been relevant since the PS2/Gamecube era. To be completely honest, only two genres should have them, really: action games (DMC, God of War) and fighting games (SF4, MK). The two genres that the Japanese industry can still make on a consistent basis. Batman does not need boss fights, but its the only way they can shoehorn in as much C-list villians as possible.
