A Sticky Sweet Taste of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Multiplayer

If you give me the option to make a pink and yellow Space Marine, I'm going to make a pink and yellow Space Marine.

The Pink Lemonade Brigade is born of the highly flexible customization tools found in the online multiplayer portion of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. You can assign two different colors to each piece of armor, with a third assigned to the armor pattern, if you choose to apply it. Various unlockable sets let you mix and match pieces, and there's a slew of emblems to assign your creation. It's almost as fun as sitting down and painting one of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 miniatures.

What strikes me as odd is that so much variety can stem from an online multiplayer aspect that includes only two game modes and a handful of maps.

Relic Entertainment's focus with Space Marine was on launching the franchise with a strong story-driven single-player experience.

Multiplayer is just icing on the cake, but it's a rather thin layer, almost a glaze really. It's a delicious cake with just a hint for sugary sweetness on the outside, and while that might work fine for a fancy dinner party, Space Marines and Chaos Marines don't play like that.

This is a good start, but the sweet taste quickly fades. I don't care how Relic and THQ do it, be it another game or extensive downloadable content, but I need more.
