A patch available now for the Xbox One version of ReCore shortens some of the game’s loading times. The two-minute load to the Shifting Sands area is now one minute. The original two-minute respawn times in Core Foundry have also been halved. (Load times in the PC version are shorter.) Read our full ReCore review here.
That’s nice, but I’ve already traded the game in. The loading times were mildly annoying, but they weren’t a huge deal for me. I traded the game in because it was a bland experience for me: bland enemies and a bland atmosphere. The graphics were good and the controls were tight, but it was like the game had no soul.
I admit that I was already tired when I started playing ReCore, but a great game surely would have had my blood pumping. ReCore? Not so much. I was recording myself as I played (but I haven’t edited and posted the video), and this screenshot was taken from my first (and only as it turned out) boss fight. The fight dragged for such a long time and was so repetitive that it threatened to put me to sleep. I actually saw myself briefly nod off at one point in my video and snap back to attention. Anyway, here’s the screenshot I mentioned.
