On the final day of E3, Kotaku intern Michael Epstein and I were running on fumes. I couldn't hold a camera still and he couldn't z-target. Nevertheless, we endeavored to play all three parts of the E3 2011 demo for this year's big Wii game, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Please forgive the shakes; I think the game looks quite nice despite them.
At least once a year I decide I don't need to keep replaying the same game I have been since I was ten.
"No more Zelda!" I say, with the finality of one who is giving up smoking or furtive rest stop intercourse.
Then I see a bit more footage... And how characters have movement and personality and the game has a decisive art style with unparalleled art direction to back it up. And a color palette and how the fucker just looks straight-up fun. Actually fun.
I like fun games. Shit. I'm totally re-buying the same game I have been for twenty-five years.
