It looks like those leaked screen shots were real, showing stills from a trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution premiered tonight at the Game Developers Choice Awards.
The short trailer, which opened with both Square Enix and Eidos Montreal logos, appeared to be entirely CGI. The video opened with a single quote: "Who we are is but a stepping stone to what we can become."
Then the scene cuts away to a man laying on a table, his torso wrapped in a cloth, people stand crowded around him. As they stand there the man's body begins to turn golden until he turns into light and ascends through the building and into the sky. As he hovers up toward the golden sun his body sprouts giant wings. The wings unfurl until he gets so close to the sun that they burst into flames and he falls to earth.
The fall ends with the same man awakening in bed from a nightmare, his arms are both robotic.
"I never asked for this," we hear him say.
He picks up a glass to drink out of and it cracks, then he pops a cigarette in his mouth to smoke.
The image zooms into an extreme close up of the man's eye, which is robotic as well, and we see a cut away of the room, right through the wall where people armed with guns are closing in on him.
"If you want to make enemies," he says, "try to change things."
And then it ends.
