Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
Have you ever wanted to roll around at the speed of sound? Do you have places to go? Are you trying to follow your rainbow? What if I told you that you could do all of that, but on the back of a sick ass hoverboard? Sonic Racing: Crossworlds marries the breakneck speeds and chaotic kart racing of the blue blur’s racing subseries with some tactical playmaking thanks to its Gadget system that lets you customize your own perks and loadouts. It has the frantic, flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants chaos you expect from a kart racer, but it gives you enough options that you’re not constantly winging it and can be strategic before you get behind the wheel. Though it’s got a lot of crossover slop that I wish I could mod out of the game, Crossworlds is quietly running laps around its contemporaries this year. — Kenneth Shepard
