Kotaku 'Shop Contest: Destiny Nonvertising

We may earn a commission from links on this page.

Earlier this week Microsoft did not run an advertisement for this week's hot new release, Destiny. Something tells me our Photoshop-savvy readers would do an amazing job of not advertising Destiny. Let's find out!

I am referring to the strange Microsoft ad that popped up last week featuring the Destiny logo on a bottle of cologne, explaining that they weren't allowed to advertise the game for Xbox platforms, so they weren't. The ad disappeared on Friday, but the memory remains.

You're probably not allowed to advertise Destiny the video game either, so I invite you not to. Instead, why not advertsie Destiny the something completely different? Destiny the taxi service? Destiny the fast food restaurant? Destiny the child? You get the idea.

I have arranged several helpful files to aid you in this week's endeavor. First off, the Destiny logo as a transparent PNG file.

In case you want to get fancy, here are the text settings to recreate the Destiny logo. The font is Futura LT.

Finally, here's a link to Bungie's Destiny press kit, which contains all sorts of rules for fonts and logo placement.

I've done all I can for you. Now get out there and don't advertise Destiny.

How To Upload Images — Instructions

1. Create your 'Shop and save it to your desktop. Images must be at least 636 pixels wide. If they aren't, you will be shot.

2. Go to the bottom of this post

3. This brings up a comment window. Click

4. This brings up Click "Choose file" if you're uploading your 'shop from your desktop

5. Alternatively, you can upload the 'Shop to a free image hosting service. I suggest imgur. Then paste the image's URL into the field that says "Image URL." Note: this must be the URL of the image itself, not the page where it is displayed. That means the URL ends in .jpg, .gif, .png, whatever.

6. Add editorial commentary and hit submit and your image will load. If it doesn't, upload the image to imgur and paste the image URL as a comment. I promise I will look at it.

7. Large-size images may not upload properly, though we have seen some big-ass animated .gifs upwards of 5 MB. If you're still having trouble uploading the image, try to keep its longest dimension (horizontal or vertical) under 1000 pixels, or the whole thing under 2 MB.
