Virtual reality just lost another big exclusive. Ubisoft’s cross-platform starship simulator Star Trek Bridge Crew, one of my favorite games of the year, has been patched to be playable without VR. That’s great news for Star Trek fans without virtual reality headsets, not-so-great news for VR in general.

DISCUSSION

VR has really cool possibilities and I’m all for innovation, but unless joystick controller gaming actually dies, and until VR becomes a bit more affordable, I won’t be jumping on board. I have a PC and PS4, but I think the reason I use my PS4 the most is that it’s easiest and most relaxing to sit with a controller in hand. I really don’t look forward to flailing about my living room, even if it does create some fun and unique gameplay circumstances.
