Ubisoft just announced the preorder collector’s editions for their upcoming adventure game Assassin’s Creed Origins. One of them kinda sticks out.

It’s now commonplace for Ubisoft games to have so many preorder exclusives and tie-ins that you need a spreadsheet to keep them straight. Even within that context, one of Origins’ editions is not like the others.

Per Ubisoft:

For the super fans, the Dawn of the Creed Legendary Collector’s Edition is available now* exclusively on the Ubisoft Store, with only 999 units produced worldwide, for a $799.99. It includes:

Available for Shipping Now:

  • Highly detailed 28.7 inch (73cm) resin statue of Bayek, a protector of Egypt whose personal story will lead to the creation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood; and his eagle, Senu - By Ubicollectibles.
  • The Collector’s Certificate of Authenticity, numbered 1 to 999.
  • An exclusive replica of Bayek’s eagle skull amulet in resin.
  • Two exclusive Assassin’s Creed Origins Steelbooks™.
  • Four large lithographs signed by the Ubisoft Montreal studio artists.

Available on Day One:

  • The Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition: The base game, the Digital Deluxe Pack and the Season Pass, which will give players access to all upcoming major expansions and equipment sets.
  • The game’s art book, featuring original designs and concept art created by the Ubisoft Montreal artists.
  • The game’s official soundtrack.
  • A printed version of the game’s hand-drawn world map.
  • Two original art cards.

Read through that and you’ll notice that if you’re one of the lucky 999 to drop eight hundred bucks on this thing, you actually start receiving parts of it now. Ubisoft explains:

Starting at E3, the main collector’s box will be shipped to the customers: It will include the statue of Bayek, the certificate of authenticity, the Steelbook™, four large lithographs, and the Bayek’s eagle skull amulet packaged in the collector’s case.

Upon release of Assassin’s Creed Origins, the same customers will receive the Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition, the world map, the art cards, the game’s official soundtrack and the game’s art book.

Honestly, you know what? If you have $800 and you can’t think of anything better to spend it on than a really really ridiculously expensive video game collector’s edition, knock yourself out. That better be a pretty damn cool skull amulet, though.
