Firestorm Flames On In Injustice 2

Making giant atoms out of fire? Close enough!

As a teen I was fascinated by DC’s Firestorm, a gestalt character with the ability to manipulate the elements. Unfortunately his TV and video game appearances generally use him as a souped-up Human Torch. Here’s our first look at Jason Rusch and Martin Stein shooting fireballs in Injustice 2.

Yeah, we get a little phasing and a little flying. At one point he takes on the blue coloration of Deathstorm, which is nifty. But for the most part, he’s shooting fire.

The Professor Stein and Jax Jackson version of Firestorm in TV’s Arrowverse has briefly flirted with transmuting elements, but that’s probably not as exciting and easy to render as great gouts of flame.

As for his video game appearance, Firestorm runs into the same problem as a Green Lantern. The comic book characters might be able to do everything all the time, but that’s got to be reined in to fit these characters into the format.

Meh, the half-let doesn’t look that bad. I’m digging the rest of the suit tho. I’m sure there’ll be mad different skins for all the different characters to be released as DLC at some point, like the last game.
