Back in 2014, Nintendo announced it would be releasing a new health-based platform sometime between 2015 and 2016. Well, it’s 2016, so where is it? Not ready, says Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima. It might never be.
According to Asahi, it’s possible that the platform could be abandoned. The newspaper reports that Kimishima told investors, “It’s not yet at the level of a Nintendo product. If we can release it, we’ll release it. If we can’t, then we’ll examine things further.”
In late 2014, Nintendo revealed it was working on a sleep sensor that could monitor people’s lifesyles, analyzing data and providing ways to exercise and eat right.

“Leveraging our video game know-how, we’ll make it so even those who have trouble following through can stick with this program and have fun,” the late former president Satoru Iwata told Asahi last February. During that same interview, Nintendo’s healthcare business was promoted as a main business pillar. Things seem less certain now.
